February Retrospective & March Plans

Twill Towels

I crafted a set of handwoven towels using various twills in this video. This was a derivative project based on the School of Sweet Georgia Twill Gamp (you can see mine at this link).

I chose to work in 8/4 cotton as it was available and also a nice transition from fingering weight wool so the patterns would be somewhat similar and my sett not too drastically different. The towels all came out well and will be loved and used for years to come!

See the video here (or jump around with chapters on youtube) to hear my thoughts and see some of the resulting twill patterns!

February and early March were very jam-packed in terms of learning! I spent most of February deciding how to move forward with the twill gamp, learning new techniques in the school, and then weaving my derivative project. I also took a break from weaving while waiting on supplies to arrive. There was also a super tiny shop update over on my Etsy shop (linked in my footer) to make way for and fund some new supplies! My ocean twill and spiced berry twills are off to their new home!

More recently I carried over my slow life practice to non-fiber mediums - technology! I enjoy crafting custom keyboards and decided to live my spoken mantra:

“Often Silent; Never Idle”.

This is a Drop Carina, a frosted acrylic base with a brass plate. I’m using 205g0 lubed Sakurios silent linear switches and POM Jelly Keycaps.

I was in a pink and gold mood coming off of the lavender and brown of my towl project.
In the upper left you can see one of my othr projects thats yet to be completed, a restored 5.5 generation Wolfson DAC iPod Classic.

Back to Fiber Arts below!

I had these supplies for about a year but had been happy with my other builds until I had a moment of downtime thanks to the supply chain.

I also decided - I loved to infinity the School of Sweet Georgia study group format. I enjoyed it so much, in fact, I’m going to try my hands at lace knitting again. I’ve just finished the beginner lace knitting course as a refresher for the Lace Mastery course. Now to practice and take my knitting to the next level while I move leisurely into new weaving techniques in color and weave/overshot!

Cheers!
